As some may have noticed I have not mentioned anything about the new 13" MacBook in my recent posts on my notebook quest. My thoughts about Apple aside, I'm disappointed in it - It's just another notebook, nothing special. Sure it runs Mac OSX (a plus for some) and you can use Bootcamp to dual boot into the likes of WindowsXP, and it looks to be well built (the white one at least - I'm hearing the black one's finish is dubious), but I'm just not convinced. Quite simply, as usual, Apple have made a glaring flaw in their product release.
I've mentioned it before, but I don't like Intel graphics chipsets - they are useless as a multimedia chipset. OK, so I don't expect a notebook of that size to be a blisteringly fast gaming rig, but it should at least have reasonably useable 3D capabilities, but these Intel graphics clearly do not. The MacBook Pro's have better GFX chipsets, unfortunately there's no MacBook pro in this size.
I met some great people at XTech06, several of whom were big Apple/Mac fans, and whom made compelling arguments to make the switch, but until Apple make a decent ultra-portable notebook, its not for me.
Even better than dual boot is Parallels Desktop - so you can run Windows and Linux and Mac OS X all at once :)
Congrats on the big news :D
I keep meaning to install Parallels and/or BootCamp - but it would be nice if they could be used cooperatively on the same system.
